Jag berättade hela den dråpliga historien förra året i ett inlägg så blir du nyfiken på vad som hände – klicka här!
Så i år fick jag för mig att jag skulle virka oss en gran. Jag googlade runt på nätet efter ett mönster men hittade inget som såg ut som den gran jag tänkt mig. Jag har dock sett liknande granar på bild på t ex Pinterest men ingen av de virkerskorna ville dela sina mönster… I helgen började jag då istället att experimentera mig fram och när jag blev nöjd, skrev jag ner hur jag gjorde. Så om jag med mina bilder lyckas inspirera dig till att virka en egen gran – delar jag gärna mitt mönster med dig!
Granen är virkad i bomullsgarnet Catania i färgen Kiwi 212 och Chocolate 162, med virknål 3,5. Bra att veta är dock att det är ganska pillrigt så du bör ha virkat en del förut och dessutom ha gott tålamod! 😉

Kanske vill du bara göra en pytteliten gran och känner dig färdig nu!? Om inte, tror jag att du vid det här laget har stenkoll på hur du virkar dina grenlager och kan fortsätta göra din gran precis så hög du önskar. För en symmetrisk gran ökar du varje grenlager med 2 bågar, dvs 6 maskor. Jag tröttnade på att min gran var helt symmetrisk så jag gjorde bågarna större och större, ju längre ner på granen jag kom. På sista grenlagret så virkar du uddarna i den främre maskbågen i fall du vill att din gran ska ha en stam. Vilket den bör ha om du ska kunna fylla den.
Stammen:
Byt till brunt garn.
Virka 1 varv med fm i den bakre maskbågen (bakom sista grenlagrets uddar).
Virka så ihop botten genom att minska maskor allt eftersom. Tycker du det är svårt så virka istället en rundel i lagom storlek som du sedan syr eller virkar fast i stammen.
Fyll med vadd.
Jag klädde min gran med stjärnformade nitar och vita pärlemor pärlor. Stjärnan är virkad på fri hand med silverfärgat lurexgarn.

Hello, I love this Christmas tree! I’ve tried to make it but it didn’t turn out right at all, haha. I’m struggling with the parts of the tree that are supposed to increase, the parts that aren’t written down. As I understand it, you’re supposed to make 3 each of the three parts you wrote down, and increase the other two. You wrote “increase by 6 each beginning of a round” What do you mean? Could you do an example of one of the increased branches that aren’t included in the recipe 🙂 and how do you connect the different parts? Just by sewing them together? Could you also do an example of the last branch that is supposed to connect with the soil? And last, do you start increasing the bow size at the 2. round? In advance thank you very much!!

Let me try to help you a bit more.
Let’s start with how the arts are connected. Actually there are no parts… it is a tree in one piece. You can achieve this if you follow the recipe. The relevant parts are:
”5. You crochet this row in the front loops only:” and then in the second layer
”9. This row is crocheted in the back loops only” This is where the second layer will be connected with the first.
If you are still unsure about the front and back layer, please google for it. There is plenty of explanation in the internet.
Regarding you question about the increase of 6:
This is simple math stuff. Let’s say you reached line 5 with 12 SC, then you crochet in first 2 SC and in the next 1, which means 1+1,1,1+1,1,1+1,1,1+1,1,1+1,1,1+1,1 = 18 and since the recipe is quite generic, you can continue just like that. After the third layer don’t look at the total numbers, just continue.

Hi there, I have made quite a few of these little xmas trees and find that by slip stitiching inside the down to the back loop that you start the next layer with, you don’t have to keep starting with a new length of wool, I have also made them with a brown trunk by slip stitching inside the last row of branches until there are about 12 stitches left. Then dc for a few rows, however long you want it, then I make a snowflake with white sparkly wool, using a book with 100 snowflake patterns to choose from, bigger the better as long as you have the right amount of loops you can do which ever you like, on a bigger size hook.

I forgot to cut and paste the base instructions, they are pretty basic, but here is what i got…
Trunk or base of tree:
Change to brown yarn.
Crochet 1 row with sc in the back loops only of the lowest branch of your tree.
Then crochet the bottom together by decreasing stitches in rounds as you get closer to the center. If you think it is difficult, then you can crochet a round piece of a suitable size in brown that you then sew or crochet onto the bottom of the tree after stuffing it.

I hope this is correct, I found that rows 9 and 15 were off, and I adjusted according to the amount of stitches that were provided that each row were supposed to end with by applying the front loop only technique to rows 5 and 11 instead of 6 & 12. row 5 has 12 sc and row 11 has 18sc according to what rows 9 and 15 said they should have. I have corrected the DC errors I’ve seen google translate do by paying attention to what the stitch chart language conversion showed that I found on pinterest and tried to write the pattern a bit more clearly in english format. Here you go! Hope it turns out right in the end… I’ll have to try this one soon.

**Repeat for as many layers of the tree as you want, each layer will have 2 more loops than the last which equates to 6 more stitches (each loop is made across three stitches, so two loops = 6 stitches).**
Maybe you just want to make a tiny spruce and feel ready now !? If not, I think by now you have understood how to crochet your branch layers and can continue to make your tree as tall as you wish.
For a symmetrical spruce, you increase each branch layer with 2 loops, ie 6 stitches. (each beginning row should start with 6 more stitches than the last, 1st was 6, 2nd was 12, 3rd was 18 and so on.) I got tired that my spruce was completely symmetrical so I made the loops bigger and bigger, the further down the spruce I came. Through a lot of trial and error working with the Google translated English version, as well as the Swedish version itself, this is the English pattern I have come up with. This is using American terms as opposed to British terms:
1. Make a magic ring, 4 sc into ring OR ch 2, 4 sc intp second chain from hook

3. * 2 sc in first st and 1 sc in next * repeat (= 9 sc)

My pattern is in Swedish and the translation is made by a ”machine” if you have used the translation button or Google Translate for example. Too often the translations does not make sense. As you are French, why don´t you translate it to French instead. Maybe then, it will be easier for you and you are more familiar with the crochet terms. Best of luck!

Hej, hittade precis din blogg via Mönsterarkivet på Facebook. Vilken fin gran! Jag har just nu virkförbud pga ont i tummarna, men nästa år kanske. Jag tänker att man skulle kunna göra den till en adventskalender genom att virka i ett grövre garn och virka in små plastringar här och var som man sen kan fästa små påsar eller paket på. Vad tror du? Lite sent nu då, men som sagt, nästa år kanske ^^

Hej Sofia och välkommen till min blogg! Precis så som du virkar tycker jag själv är det allra bästa. Att använda bilder och mönster som inspiration men ändå göra på sitt eget sätt. Se mönstret som en inspirationskälla och inte ”lag”. Många fastnar i det exakt antalet maskor och så blir det jobbigt och svårt när det inte blir rätt. Man kanske t o m lägger sitt virkprojekt längst in i en garderob… 😀

Fin gran, precis vad jag letat efter :). Jag läste igenom mönstret och jatror att jag hittat ett litet slarvfel pvarv 18. Där står ‘3 fm i nästa 2 maslokorna’. Den sista 2:an ska väl också vara en 3:a, eller hur?
Sen undrar jag hur du gjorde grenarna när de är större. Gör du dubbelstolpar då? I flera maskor?

Tack för att du uppmärksammat att en 3:a blivit en 2:a på varv 18! 🙂 Detta är nu ändrat.
Hela granen är virkad med fm – inte en enda stolpe. När jag gjort grenarna ”litet längre” så har jag virkat ett extra varv med fm utan att göra någon ökning på det varvet.

Aha, i bågarna!? Varv 6 och 7 gjorde jag istället för 3 st i en m, 2 st i 2m = 4 st. På varv 8 gjorde jag 2 st i 3 m= 6 st. På varv 9. använde jag mig även av dst: 1 st + 6 dst + 1 st fördelat på 4 m.
